Weekly Yahoo Finance Sheet Automation
Budget: $30 – $250 AUD
I’m putting together a Google Sheets workbook that automatically pulls a core set of public-company metrics from Yahoo Finance and refreshes them every week through Google Apps Script.
What I need built
• One master sheet that lists every company I enter down the rows and shows the following columns, auto-filled from Yahoo Finance:
– EV
– NTM Revenue
– LTM Revenue
– LTM Revenue Growth YoY
– NTM Revenue Growth YoY
– NTM Cash Flow
– LTM Cash Flow
– Gross Margin
– Operating Margin
– LTM Operating Expense split into S&M, G&A, R&D
– Share Price
– 7-Day Share Price Change
– 30-Day Share Price Change
• A Google Apps Script that runs on a weekly trigger, hits the Yahoo Finance API (or another reliable endpoint you suggest), and updates the data in place.
• Sensible handling for any missing or outdated values—open to your recommendation on whether to leave the cell blank, show “N/A,” or apply another graceful fallback.
• Clean, readable formulas or script functions so I can extend the sheet with new tickers later on.
• A brief walkthrough or inline documentation so I understand how to maintain or tweak the script.
Why you might be a fit
You know Google Sheets inside out, have already automated data pulls from Yahoo Finance or similar financial APIs, and can write tidy, well-commented Apps Script. A background in finance or equity research would help you anticipate edge cases such as negative growth or split-adjusted price histories.
When you reply
• Include one or two links or screenshots of a similar Sheets/Apps Script automation you’ve delivered.
• Let me know how you plan to structure the API calls and manage rate limits.
• Provide an estimated timeline to get a working prototype and then the final polished sheet.
I’m ready to start as soon as I find the right person and will be responsive with test tickers and feedback along the way.
