Spreadsheet Text Data Cleaning
Budget: £750 – £1,500 GBP
I have a collection of spreadsheets filled with text-heavy columns that now look inconsistent and messy. I need a data-savvy pair of eyes to turn that clutter into clean, standardized information I can actually work with.
Scope of work
• Import each worksheet into Excel or Google Sheets (whichever you prefer).
• Remove duplicates, stray line breaks, and invisible characters.
• Standardize capitalization, spelling, and punctuation for names, addresses, and free-text notes.
• Reformat multi-value cells by splitting or merging fields where needed so every column holds a single, clearly labeled variable.
• Flag or highlight any ambiguous entries that require my decision instead of guessing.
Deliverables
1. A fully cleaned master spreadsheet, ready for analysis or direct upload into my CRM.
2. A brief change log (can be a second tab) summarizing the main transformation rules you applied so I can replicate the process later.
3. A short “known issues” list for any cells you had to leave untouched.
I’m happy to provide a sample file and discuss conventions up front so we’re on the same page. Strong attention to detail and proficiency with functions such as TRIM, PROPER, REGEX, and conditional formatting will stand out. If this sounds like your routine playground, let’s get started.
