Optimize Google Sheets Stability, Prevent Crashing
Budget: $50 – $0 USD
Our finance team of fewer than twenty analysts lives inside Google Sheets. Each file holds large datasets and complex formulas, and lately the Chrome tab running a sheet will simply vanish as it exhausts its per-tab memory. I need an expert who can show us how to stop the constant crashes and streamline the way we build and use these workbooks.
You will start by auditing several representative files to pinpoint which formulas, data structures, or sharing practices trigger the crashes. From there, redesign or refactor portions of the sheets so they recalculate faster and consume less memory, while keeping all current functionality intact. I also want every member of the team to receive one-on-one coaching sessions so they understand exactly what habits are causing the crashes and how to avoid them in the future.
Deliverables
• Performance audit report outlining root causes and recommended fixes
• Optimised versions—or detailed step-by-step upgrade instructions—of our five most critical spreadsheets
• Up to twenty 60-minute individual coaching calls (screen-sharing) scheduled within two weeks of the audit, with follow-ups throughout the following 2 months
• A concise best-practices cheatsheet for large, formula-heavy Google Sheets
Acceptance criteria
• No Chrome tab crashes after four continuous hours of heavy use on standard corporate hardware
• Main P&L workbook recalculates at least 50 % faster
• All users acknowledge in writing that they understand and can apply the optimisation guidelines
If you have a track record of taming oversized Google Sheets and enjoy teaching finance professionals, I’d love to hear how you would tackle this.
