Google Sheets simple tracker
Budget: $30 – $250 AUD
Sheets required:
Overview (totals + simple lists)
Monthly tabs (same format each month):
- Date
- Description
- Money in
- Money out
- Type (loan in / true incoming / expense / repayment)
Debts sheet:
- Description
- Total amount
- Who owes (can be split between multiple people)
- Amount per person
- Paid/unpaid status (by person, and overall) - eg I might pay 100% of a debt to a creditor but still be owed 50% by another party
Key requirements:
Some “money in” entries are actually loans (not real income) and should be trackable as debts
Need to distinguish between:
• loans from family (debts owed)
• real incomings (e.g. sale of assets)
Overview page should show:
• total real incomings to date
• current debts outstanding
• a simple list of who is owed money
• a simple list of where money has come from
Very minimal formulas
No dashboards
Must be very hard to break (safe to insert/delete rows)
