Freelance Quantity Takeoff & Estimating Specialist Needed

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Freelance Quantity Takeoff & Estimating Specialist to join our team on a contract basis. This is confidential work supporting our excavation contracting business, which specializes in stormwater systems, sewer and waterlines, septic systems, concrete flatwork, foundations, site grading, and excavation.

Our current workflow uses Agtek Earthwork Takeoffs, Bluebeam Revu Takeoffs, and Google Sheets for compiling quantities and preparing estimates. We have existing templates that can be modified and expanded for standardized deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan Review & Analysis: Review civil and excavation construction drawings, specifications, and related documents.

Quantity Takeoff: Perform accurate takeoffs using Agtek Earthwork Software and Bluebeam Revu, with data organized in Google Sheets.

Markups & Deliverables: Create clear markups, organized quantity lists, and modify existing templates for consistent outputs.

Quantity Extraction: Identify, measure, and list quantities for all relevant scopes of work, including:

Erosion control measures

Tree clearing & grubbing

Site grading & excavation

Foundations & slabs

Stormwater, sewer, and water piping

Rock excavation areas

Estimating: Prepare detailed estimates from takeoff data, applying labor, material, and equipment cost factors.

Communication: Collaborate with project managers to clarify scope, assumptions, and requirements.

Qualifications:

Proficiency in Agtek Earthwork Software, Bluebeam Revu, and Google Sheets.

Strong ability to read and interpret civil site plans, utility plans, and construction specifications.

Understanding of civil construction practices and terminology across the United States.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Strong communication skills (verbal and written).

Ability to work with and improve existing templates and workflows.

Commitment to confidentiality and accuracy.

Preferred Experience:

Background in excavation, civil site work, or utility installation.

Familiarity with grading, piping, foundations, and erosion control takeoffs.

Knowledge of regional construction cost factors.

Work Arrangement:

Freelance / contract basis. Hourly / Weekly

Remote work with periodic online meetings.

Flexible schedule, but must meet deadlines.
