Mountain Home Render in SketchUp & Geo-Placement in Google Earth
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I have architectural plans for a mountainside residence and need them translated into a clean, accurate SketchUp model that captures look and feel of the house - no elaborate interiors, the focus is on the outside and how the house looks in 3D. Once the SketchUp model is finished, I’d like it exported and properly geolocated so I can drop it straight into Google Earth to see what it looks like, especially in relation to neighbouring properties.
Because the interior will remain schematic at this stage, I’ll supply a handful of reference swatches for materials and finishes, but I’m also counting on your eye to suggest sensible defaults wherever information is missing. Nothing heavy-duty: think placeholder textures that read well in orbit and street-level views.
Deliverables:
• SketchUp (.skp) file aligned to the provided floor plans and elevations.
• KMZ/KML package ready for immediate import in Google Earth, positioned on the correct latitude, longitude, and elevation.
• Simple material palette combining my references with your recommendations, applied to the model.
Acceptance
The model needs to line up within a few inches of the PDFs, open flawlessly in the current release of SketchUp, and land in Google Earth without manual tweaking. Once those boxes are ticked, we’re done.
