Custom Google Map and enabled API
Budget: $2 – $8 AUD
With the "My Maps" function in Google Maps, I have delineated two service areas for our business. After embedding it on our website, the appearance and user experience left much to be desired.
While I have successfully set up Google Cloud and imported this map into our dataset and enabled the APIs, as a non-developer, I've hit a roadblock when it comes to finding the necessary code within the Google Cloud platform to integrate my custom map with Google map features on my website.
Here's what I require from you:
1 - Must be able to use the Freelancer Time Tracking app. This is non-negotiable as payment is tracked through the hours you work via this app.
2 - Must have prior experience working with the Google Maps API.
3 - Should set up your own free Google Cloud account, if you don't already possess one.
4 - Be prepared to upload the code to your own WordPress website for independent testing.
5 - Once you are satisfied with its performance and deem it ready for public use, demonstrate it to me for further testing on your site.
6 - If I approve, we'll transfer it to my website and remove it from yours.
7 - Set up my Google Cloud account with the exact settings necessary for the map to function correctly and delete the data from your account.
In return, you'll receive a copy of the custom map I've created in Google My Maps, which you can export into a KML file or manipulate as needed.
I want the map to offer:
1 - A pinpoint function or 'my location' button for customers to identify their current location or zone.
2 - An address bar to input job site addresses for visualization and zone determination.
3 - A 'choose a map view' feature allowing customers to toggle between a default map and a satellite map.
These are fundamental features that most of us are familiar with from the general Google Maps on our phones. The absence of these features in the embedded map I made has necessitated this endeavour.
While there are a few more features I'd like to incorporate, those will come in the second phase. For now, let's nail the basics.
As a measure to combat bot bids on Freelancer, I have a simple screening question: What day is it today? Include the answer at the beginning of your application. Any application missing this will be immediately disregarded, as it will be presumed to be from a bot or from someone who hasn't taken the time to read the entire job advert.
Thank you and good luck. I look forward to potentially collaborating with you soon
