Role Overview
We are hiring an AI Automation Engineer to build a next-generation purchasing automation system integrating Google Sheets, Google Cloud Run, and advanced LLMs (OpenAI/Anthropic). This role is ideal for engineers who thrive in serverless architectures and AI-driven automation.
What You Will Build
• A Google Sheets trigger that initiates an Apps Script workflow.
• Apps Script packaging and sending job metadata to Google Cloud Run.
• Cloud Run launching 10–50 parallel serverless workers.
• Workers chunking supplier data, calling LLMs for filtering and matching, and returning structured results.
• Final AI-based supplier selection (cheapest price, diameter/genus rules, reasoning).
• Writing structured results back into Google Sheets.
• The entire system is serverless—automatic scaling, no server maintenance.
Responsibilities
• Develop Apps Script functions for orchestration and data callbacks.
• Build Google Cloud Run services to process items in parallel.
• Implement AI-based prefiltering and supplier matching workflows.
• Chunk and process large datasets (15k–45k rows) efficiently.
• Integrate OpenAI/Anthropic models with structured JSON prompts.
• Apply rule-based logic such as diameter priority, genus mapping, and price ranking.
• Ensure secure authentication, API key management, and communication flows.
• Implement batching, retries, cost optimization, and logging.
• Deliver clean results back to Google Sheets with a callback endpoint.
• Provide documentation and handover.
Required Experience
• Strong backend engineering experience (Node.js or Python).
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Run or other serverless platforms.
• Experience integrating OpenAI or Anthropic APIs.
• Knowledge of Google Apps Script and Google Sheets automation.
• Experience with large dataset processing, chunking, or batching.
• Prompt engineering and structured LLM output handling.
• Experience designing distributed or parallel processing systems.
• Strong problem‑solving and systems‑design abilities.
Bonus Skills
• Procurement, supply chain, or product matching experience.
• Familiarity with horticulture/floriculture product naming.
• Experience with embeddings or vector similarity search.
• Prior experience with automation-heavy AI systems.
