Senior Chrome Extension Developer for Multi-Tab Audio Recorder
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
We are looking for a seasoned Chrome Extension Developer to create a comprehensive audio recording tool that is sophisticated yet user-friendly. This extension must have the capability to simultaneously record streaming audio from multiple browser tabs while ensuring that the audio playback in these tabs is muted to prevent feedback loops or echos during the recording process.
Core Project Deliverables:
- Develop an extension that can initiate, manage, and stop audio recordings across multiple active browser tabs without cross-interference.
-Implement tab audio muting functionality upon the start of the recording to ensure the recorded streams are free from playback noise.
-Design the extension to facilitate continuous audio recording sessions that only terminate upon user command.
-Ensure that each recorded audio stream is segmented and saved as MP3 files in ten-minute intervals without interrupting the recording session.
-Each MP3 file must be named following a structured format: [UserDefinedName]_[YYYY-MM-DD]_[HH-MM-SS].mp3, where:
UserDefinedName is a customizable label provided by the user at the start of the recording session.
[YYYY-MM-DD]_[HH-MM-SS] is a timestamp reflecting the exact date and time the recording file was initiated.
- Develop an automatic file management system that organizes these recordings into user-specified directories within the user's local file system or designated cloud storage service.
Interface and User Experience Expectations:
- Curate a minimalistic yet intuitive UI allowing users to:
- Start a recording session and assign a unique name to it for file identification purposes.
- Effortlessly stop individual recording sessions and manage saved audio files.
- Monitor ongoing recording sessions, with clear indicators for the recording status of each tab.
- Accessibly modify settings for aspects like output file location and possibly, audio quality presets.
- Integrate clear prompts and notifications for user actions to ensure a transparent user experience.
Required Technical Expertise:
- Demonstrated proficiency in JavaScript, and familiarity with audio processing web APIs.
- Solid experience with Chrome Extension Manifest V3 API, particularly chrome.tabCapture, chrome.downloads, and handling of service workers.
- Demonstrable experience with real-time audio data handling and MP3 encoding within the context of browser extensions.
- Expertise in asynchronous JavaScript for managing concurrent recording sessions across multiple tabs.
Submission Requirements:
- Comprehensive project plan detailing your approach to the extension development, with milestones and estimated timelines.
- Breakdown of the technical stack to be used, especially any third-party libraries for MP3 encoding and file system management.
- Proof of prior experience, through a portfolio, with emphasis on projects involving media streaming, capture, and file management.
This project requires immediate attention and we are eager to engage with a developer who can commit to a dedicated development schedule. Please include your availability for a preliminary discussion and subsequent development phases, along with your rate expectations, in your application.
