Need help fixing / setting up conversion tracking with pre-existing GA-4 (New google analytics) + AdWords account

Need help fixing / setting up conversion tracking with pre-existing GA-4 (New google analytics) + AdWords account.
I seem to have most (if not all) of it working but it seems to me that the conversion tracking of placed orders isn't working correctly in GA-4, or at least doesnt work when I unlink our legacy UA Google Analytics account from our adwords account. So basically the placed-order conversion tracking works in our legacy UA analytics account but probably doesnt work in our new GA-4 account.
I have a magento website and while I can show you the HTML source code produced by the various relevant pages, you wouldn't be able to modify the HTML/tracking tags yourself but would have to give me instructions/suggestions and I would have my developer make the changes so that you can then test if they worked or not.
