Set Up Google Conversion Tracking
Budget: $2 – $8 CAD
Project Title: Audit and Fix Google Tag Manager, Google Ads, and GA4 Tracking (WordPress + GoHighLevel Form)
Project Description:
I am looking for an experienced Google tracking and analytics specialist to audit, clean up, and correctly reinstall my tracking system on a WordPress website. The site uses an embedded GoHighLevel (GHL) form that redirects to a thank-you page after submission.
Currently, my tracking setup is not working properly. Some tags have been added, removed, or misconfigured, and I need a professional to clean up the existing mess and make sure everything works correctly.
The main goal is to ensure I can accurately track which Google Ads keywords and campaigns lead to completed form submissions and thank-you page visits, with all data properly connected between Google Ads, Google Analytics 4 (GA4), and Search Console.
Tasks to Complete:
Audit and Cleanup
Review all existing tracking tags and scripts in WordPress, including Google Tag Manager, GA4, and Google Ads.
Identify and remove any duplicate, outdated, or conflicting tags.
Verify there is only one GTM container installed.
Ensure all code is placed in the correct header or footer sections of WordPress.
Google Tag Manager (GTM) Setup
Rebuild a clean GTM container if needed.
Add and configure the following tags:
GA4 Configuration Tag (fires on all pages)
GA4 Event Tag for "generate_lead" (fires on thank-you page)
Google Ads Conversion Tag for "Lead Form Submission – Thank You Page" (fires on thank-you page)
Test and confirm all tags fire properly using Tag Assistant and Preview Mode.
Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
Verify that GA4 tracking is functioning through GTM.
Create a custom event for "generate_lead" and mark it as a conversion.
Link GA4 with Google Ads.
Enable enhanced measurement and confirm event data is flowing correctly.
Google Ads
Create or verify a conversion action:
Category: Lead
Trigger: Visit to /thank-you/ page
Count: One
Enable Auto-Tagging to track keyword-level conversion data.
Test and confirm that conversions appear in Google Ads.
Google Search Console
Verify domain ownership.
Submit sitemap for indexing.
Confirm canonical setup (https / non-www) is correct.
