Freelance DevOps Engineer – Git Setup & Repository Management
We are looking for a Freelance DevOps Engineer with strong experience in Git setup and version control best practices to organize, secure, and optimize our code repositories.
Responsibilities:
• Set up and configure Git repositories (GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket)
• Create proper branching strategies (main, develop, feature, release, hotfix)
• Configure access control and user permissions for team members
• Set up repository structure and naming conventions
• Implement Git workflows (Git Flow / Trunk-based development)
• Configure commit standards and pull request templates
• Set up code review processes
• Enable repository security (protected branches, required approvals)
• Configure hooks (pre-commit, pre-push) for code quality
• Integrate Git with CI/CD pipelines
• Provide documentation and training to the team
• Migrate existing code to Git (if required)
• Set up backup and recovery strategies for repositories
Required Skills:
• Strong knowledge of Git and Git workflows
• Experience with GitHub / GitLab / Bitbucket
• Understanding of branching models and versioning
• Basic CI/CD knowledge (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.)
• Knowledge of access management and repository security
• Good documentation skills
Nice to Have:
• Experience with Docker and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Experience in DevOps automation tools
• Knowledge of code quality tools (SonarQube, ESLint, etc.)
Project Scope:
• One-time setup with possible long-term support
• Repository structure design
• Team onboarding and documentation
Deliverables:
• Fully configured Git repositories
• Branching and workflow documentation

• CI/CD integration (if required)
