Configure GitHub on Windows Server
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
My server runs Windows and I want Git installed, configured, and fully linked to GitHub so code can be pulled, committed, and pushed without hassles.
Here’s what the engagement should cover:
• Install the latest stable Git build on the Windows server and verify it runs from PowerShell and CMD.
• Generate an SSH key pair (or another secure authentication method you recommend), add the public key to the GitHub account, and prove that push/pull works over the chosen protocol.
• Create and document any environment variables, PATH updates, or service-level changes made during setup.
• Provide a concise, step-by-step guide (screenshots or Markdown are fine) so another team member could repeat every action—installation, repository cloning, branch creation, and safe updates—without guesswork.
I’m settled on GitHub instead of GitLab or Bitbucket, so the documentation should reference GitHub’s UI and terminology. Once everything is running smoothly and the documentation is complete, the project will be considered done.
