VS Code Remote Editing Setup ssh
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I’m trying to streamline my workflow so I can open my website’s files directly in Visual Studio Code, edit them live, and push changes without bouncing between multiple tools. The remote server is already up and running; what I’m missing is a clean, reliable VS Code configuration that lets me:
• Connect to the server over SSH (or another secure method you recommend)
• Browse and edit files in real-time from within the VS Code explorer
• Sync changes back to the server safely, with version-controlled fallbacks
• Keep authentication keys or passwords out of the repo while still making the setup repeatable
Once everything works, I’d like a short, step-by-step README so I can replicate the setup on another machine in the future. If you’ve done this before with the Remote - SSH or Dev Containers extensions, that experience will be a big plus.
I can share server credentials and any repo access you need as soon as we start. Let me know how quickly you think you can have the connection up and tested, and what you’ll need from me.
