Seamless Background Object Removal

I have a single photo that needs a subtle clean-up: just one or two background elements have to disappear without a trace. The goal is a natural-looking image where no one can tell anything was edited.

Please work non-destructively (Photoshop, Affinity, GIMP—whatever you prefer) so the original resolution and colour remain intact. When you’re done, I’ll need:
• a flattened JPG ready for use
• a layered file (PSD or equivalent) in case I ever have to tweak the result
