The Last Man is an apocalyptic science fiction novel written by Mary Shelley (author of Frankenstein) in 1826. It is now in public domain. The novel is set in the period of 2092-2100. The main character, Lionel Verney, tells a story of being the last man on earth following a catastrophic plague, endless wars and devastating climate events.
In the introduction to this publication, I want to draw parallels between Shelley's world of the 2090s and our current world of the 2020s. Of particular interest should be the fact that plagues have been part of our past, are a part of our present, and will be a part of our future.
Some biographical detail of Shelley and the world she lived in at the time should be included as well.
