TikTok Fundraising Promotion for Kenyan Orphanage
Budget: €900 – €1,600 EUR
The main motivation now is to raise funds to support a children's foster home in Nakuru Kenya. My husband and I set it up in 2013 as a children's charity but decided with 1 of the staff that she become a foster mother.
We had gone Volunteering to Kenya around 2009 with 2 teenage foster children.
We subsequently went back the following year to build classrooms for the children. My husband and his friend went out first and did the work.
We sponsored children from that orphanage/school when we went first but decided that children needed a home where they had a constant adult they could rely on.
When we went back in 2013 we rented a house and after a few months got the first 3 children. We had intended to run it as a registered charity but decided to have a foster home instead.
We called it Loice's children's home and I set up a charity shop at home which funded it. This came to an end in 2020 when covid hit and we had to close. A friend of mine organised a UK charity to fund it until November 1st when for some reason said they couldn't support anymore.
Since then I've been covering the costs with donations from a local Kenya charity.
I set up a tik tok account to help raise funds but it's not to the stage where it is earning money. I am relying on videos of the children and life in Kenya to get my account to 10k and get on the creators fund.
