Irina Balabanova is a young and beautiful Ukrainian girl, recently heartbroken and abandoned by an American post graduate teacher who had worked in her country as an intern.
John Masters is from the American Midwest, a middle-aged industrial software salesman recently divested of a broken marriage and fathering a teenage son.
Widely separated by generation, geography, and culture, the two were drawn together in the most incredible and unforeseen circumstances. Striving to overcome the forces of family biases, ethnic jealousy, and the slow crawl of international immigration bureaucracy, their passion for each other could only survive through perseverance and a bit of help from ‘the better angels among us’.
The story takes a rather deep dive into the cottage industry of international online match-making, including the possible dangers and ultimate rewards, the heartbreak of failure and the thrill of success from such a romantic undertaking.
