German-speaking Proofreader for Romance Novels (long term)
Budget: €2,000 – €5,000 EUR
I'm seeking a reliable, detail-oriented German-speaking proofreader/editor. You'll be improving machine-translated romance novels (English → German) across sub-genres including shifter romance, mafia romance, dark romance, and paranormal romance. Each book is approximately 100,000 words.
Your primary tasks will involve:
- Correcting grammar mistakes
- Smoothing out unnatural translations
- Ensuring the text reads fluently and naturally
For reference, both the English source text and the machine-translated German version will be provided.
Compensation is set at €0.005 per word, with a minimum workload of 100,000 words per week – potentially up to 1 million words per month.
This is a long-term opportunity, with a minimum commitment of 6 months, and the potential for ongoing work for years. Ideal candidates will be dependable, detail-oriented, and possess:
- Experience with proofreading/editing, particularly in romance genres
- Familiarity with machine-translated texts
- Ability to address grammar, unnatural translations, and fluency challenges effectively.
