Reno Soil Collapse Potential Testing
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
Our commercial parcel on the east side of Reno, Nevada requires a focused geotechnical investigation for the foundation of our proposed buildings. The priority is to understand whether the native soils are susceptible to collapse and, if so, to what degree. To reach a clear answer I need the following work performed and documented:
• Field sampling of representative undisturbed and bulk soil from the site (exact locations to be agreed on-site).
• Laboratory sieve analysis to establish grain-size distribution.
• Consolidation assessment centred on a dedicated collapse potential test so we can quantify possible settlement under wetting loads.
The final deliverable is a concise report that interprets the sieve data, consolidation behaviour and the collapse potential results, then states practical recommendations for footing design or ground improvement if risk thresholds are exceeded. Include raw data sheets, photographs of specimens, test standards followed, and a summary table highlighting any critical values.
All work must comply with current Nevada professional standards for geotechnical investigations; please reference the specific ASTM or AASHTO methods applied. I will make site access arrangements and can assist with utility clearance.
