Map Data Extraction and Organization for Historical Taipei Maps
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
Project Overview:
I am looking for an expert with GIS analysis or data skills to assist in processing data from the Taipei Historical Map platform. This project involves extracting data from the platform, structuring it in an organized Excel format, identifying specific zones and land distribution, and adding annotations for clarity and accuracy.
Main Project Requirements:
1. Data Extraction and Layer Selection:
Access the Taipei Historical Map platform: Taipei Historical Map.
Select the following specific layers:
Topographic Map
Public/Private Land Distribution Map
Cadastral Map
Zoning Map (ensure road use areas are marked in white)
2023 Topographic Map (specifically extract parcel numbers without network lines)
2. Data Visualization and Customization:
Adjust the transparency of selected layers:
Set zoning map transparency to about 10%.
Set public/private land distribution transparency to about 40%.
Organize the map based on entire street sections (from one intersection to the next, including trumpet-shaped sections in both directions).
Divide sections according to the following logic:
Between crosswalks = maximum segment
Between traffic lights = one segment
Between power transformers = one segment
Extract specific segments based on the above logic, including:
Street sections
Sections before and after traffic lights
Alleys
Distance between power poles and low-voltage boxes
Define the "logical distance" between endpoints based on the distance between intersections.
3. Identifying and Marking Specific Areas:
Identify and label specific areas, including "Diamond," "Gold," and "Silver" zones, which represent civilian land surrounded by multiple government-owned lands.
Extract yellow and white zones from the "Public Land Distribution Map" layer.
Create visual markers or labels on the map for specific zones as per the requirements.
4. Exporting and Organizing Data into Excel:
Export relevant data (such as parcel numbers and zoning types) from the map into an Excel file.
Organize data to include:
Parcel numbers based on zoning and public/private land distribution.
Additional requirements, such as adding a "ping function" for each parcel number, which could be a clickable link or note in Excel that references a specific map area.
Example file: Sample
5. Manual Review and Quality Assurance:
Conduct a manual review to ensure data completeness and accuracy.
Double-check zoning, land distribution, and parcel numbers to confirm they meet the client’s requirements.
6. Further Organization According to Step 4 Logic:
Integrate simple existing alleys within three parcels based on known areas. Integrate the following parcel quantities:
Diamond: one parcel
Gold: two parcels
Silver: three parcels
Required Skills:
Familiarity with GIS tools and the Historical Map platform.
Skills in data extraction, layer manipulation, and data visualization.
Proficiency in Excel, including creating clickable links or annotations within cells.
Attention to detail and ability to perform manual data validation.
Deliverables:
A structured Excel file including:
Parcel numbers, zoning types, and land distribution details.
A "ping function" or clickable feature for each parcel number to facilitate referencing specific areas.
Screenshots or PDF exports of selected layers for documentation purposes, if required.
A brief document explaining the process and guidance on further use of the Excel file.
Budget and Timeline:
Please provide an estimated timeline and budget for this project, along with your approach to handling any data revisions or updates.
How to Apply:
If interested, please submit:
A brief description of your experience in GIS data extraction and Excel data organization.
Your general approach to handling this project.
Any questions or clarifications you may need.
Thank you for reading! I look forward to working with a qualified professional to complete this project.
The extracted data will primarily be used for urban planning and development purposes. The Excel file should include parcel numbers with hyperlinked text for easy reference to specific map areas. Include parcel numbers, zoning types, public/private land distribution, and a clickable link for each parcel number. The project will utilize ArcGIS for data extraction and manipulation. Use icons to visually mark the specific zones on the map. Include text labels to clearly mark the specific zones on the map. The final deliverables should be in Excel format. Use icons to visually mark the specific zones on the map. Include ongoing support for any data revisions or updates after the initial delivery. Final visual markers or labels should be in icon format.
