GIS Specialist – Contour Shapefile Compression & Optimization

Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced GIS specialist to reduce the size of a contour shapefile from approximately 956GB to under 50MB while preserving the integrity of the contour lines. The optimized file should maintain spatial accuracy and usability for GIS applications.

Key Requirements:
- Expertise in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar)
- Experience with contour data simplification and generalization
- Proficiency in handling large geospatial datasets
- Ability to optimize shapefile storage without losing essential details
- Knowledge of topology preservation and spatial data compression techniques

Deliverables:
- Optimized contour shapefile (<50MB) with preserved contour features
- Documentation of the optimization process

Note:The contour lines are paramount, they must be intact with the values in attribute table. Geojson files will be preferred as output.
