Expert Geospatial Analysis
Budget: $25 – $50 USD
We are developing a home solar energy product that attaches to the wall rather than the roof. The product will extend out from the wall above the windows and doors and below the roof overhang. We want to take a database of property info and, (probably) using ArcGIS Pro tools, estimate the total square footage of solar panels that can be placed on these homes on their South and Southwest-facing walls. Imagine it is an awning that is horizontal to the ground and you want to estimate the total amount of fabric awning that can be placed on just the South/SW walls on all the homes in a database; it's conceptually the same, except with solar panels instead of fabric.
If you want to take it to the next step and estimate solar irradiation and shade based on each property address, that is up to you. That would be better for me, but someone else with 20 years GIS experience tried to do this and failed, so I can also estimate shading and solar output from these panels myself. This is not an easy project, so please only respond if you are close to 100% sure that you can do it. Thanks.
