GIS Maps: Heat vs Income
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I have two open datasets—NASA/USGS Landsat land-surface temperature rasters and ACS median household income by census tract—and I need them transformed into three polished, presentation-ready maps.
The workflow is straightforward: first, derive mean land-surface temperature for each census tract with a zonal-statistics approach, then join that result to the income table. From there, produce:
• Income Map – a clear, well-classified choropleth of median household income.
• Temperature Map – an intuitive display of the temperature raster, generalized only enough to stay crisp at the tract level.
• Combined Analysis Map – the star piece that overlays or otherwise juxtaposes both variables so the spatial relationship reads at a glance.
Each finished map must carry a concise title, legend keyed to sensible breaks, north arrow, scale bar and neatline, all balanced with professional colour choices suitable for print or slide decks. Resolution should support large-format printing (minimum 300 dpi at tabloid size) and look equally sharp in digital form.
I am platform-agnostic; ArcGIS Pro, QGIS or an equivalent tool is fine as long as the cartography is flawless. Please deliver high-resolution PDFs/PNGs plus the project file or layer styles so I can reproduce the work later if needed.
