GameMaker Retro Enemy AI Coding
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I’m building a side-scrolling beat ’em up in GameMaker and need the enemy behaviour to feel as tight and nostalgic as Streets of Rage 2. My own player character is already in place; what’s missing is a solid AI system that makes enemies read and chase the player convincingly.
Here’s what I’m after:
• Enemy characters only—no work on players or NPCs.
• Movement pattern: they should actively pursue the player, accelerating, decelerating and re-targeting exactly as classic brawler foes do.
• All attack frames are ready in a sprite sheet; your task is to call the right animation states and handle hit-boxes, knock-backs and recovery timing so the special moves play smoothly.
Deliverables will be a GameMaker project (or easily importable scripts) plus a short read-me showing how to drop the code into my existing build and hook up additional enemy variants. I’ll test by dropping two enemy types into a demo room; if they track, close in, and fire off their attacks without glitches, the milestone is complete.
