2D Side-Scrolling RPG Development -- 2

Job ID: 40526420

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I have a complete set of game design documents that map out a 2D side-scrolling RPG and I’m ready to see it come to life on PC. The visual direction is clean, modern vector graphics—think crisp lines, fluid animations, and scalable assets that hold up well on different resolutions.

Core gameplay needs to reflect two pillars already outlined in the GDD: an engaging combat system and integrated puzzle-solving sequences that break up the action. All enemy stats, level layouts, puzzle flowcharts, and narrative beats are already drafted; your job is to translate them into a playable experience while keeping code modular for future content drops.

Unity (with URP) or Godot 4 are both acceptable; choose whichever lets you maintain smooth performance and rapid iteration. I’ll supply the full GDD, asset list, and main character sprite once we kick off. Feel free to recommend middleware for dialogue, input mapping, or save systems if it speeds development.

Deliverables
• A PC-ready build (Windows) showcasing the first vertical slice: tutorial stage, basic combat loop, and at least one puzzle room
• Source project with clean, commented code and organized asset folders
• Documentation covering setup, core systems architecture, and a short post-mortem on any deviations from the original design

Acceptance Criteria
The vertical slice must load without errors, hit a steady 60 FPS on mid-range hardware, and demonstrate the combat and puzzle mechanics exactly as described in the GDD. Once these boxes are ticked, we’ll discuss expanding to the full campaign.

If you’ve shipped or prototyped 2D action titles before and are comfortable working from detailed docs, I’d love to collaborate.
