Senior C#/.NET Engineer/Game Developer — Network Library Parsing, Robustness & Debugging
Budget: $50 – $0 USD
Summary
Description:
I’m looking for an experienced C# developer to troubleshoot and update an existing networking library. The program is designed to work in conjunction with a mainstream RPG game, but it is no longer functioning as intended after recent server-side changes. I suspect the issue may involve packet parsing and/or the way packets are being sent (possibly requiring offsets or timing adjustments), but I’m not entirely certain — part of this project will be for you to diagnose the problem and implement a working solution.
In your proposal, please describe your experience developing or maintaining software that interfaces with or operates alongside mainstream video games — including relevant technologies, frameworks, and examples of prior projects.
Responsibilities:
Review the existing networking codebase.
Diagnose why the application no longer works properly with the game server.
Update the networking logic, which may include adjusting packet parsing, send/receive flow, or introducing configurable offsets/delays.
Ensure stable, reliable communication with the game after modifications.
Provide clear documentation of changes and configuration.
Requirements:
Experience working with networking layers for mainstream RPG or real-time multiplayer games.
Strong background in C# and .NET (preferably .NET 6).
Expertise in socket programming, packet serialization/deserialization, and asynchronous networking.
Experience debugging and refactoring existing codebases.
Strong problem-solving ability with protocol and timing issues.
Nice to Have:
Familiarity with adapting code to environments where communication protocols are frequently updated.
Knowledge of packet scheduling, jitter handling, or timing offsets.
Deliverables:
A working, updated version of the networking library.
Documentation explaining the diagnosis, applied solution, and usage instructions.
