Migrate UE5 Game to SteamCore
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
The multiplayer game is already live and stable on Unreal Engine 5.6 using the default Steam Subsystem. What I now need is a clean swap-over to the SteamCore plugin so we can tap into its richer blueprint exposure and on-going support.
Scope of work
• Remove every dependency on the built-in Steam Subsystem and integrate SteamCore 2.x (or latest) across client, listen-server and dedicated-server targets.
• Re-implement authentication through SteamCore using Steam Login and robust Session Management. No Steam Guard flow is required.
• Recreate matchmaking logic inside SteamCore, covering: Ranked, Unranked, Custom and quick “Play-Now” queues. The current UI/UX for server browser and lobby creation should remain unchanged for the player.
• Ensure all previously released builds still compile and package for Windows (Win64) after the migration.
• Hand over commented blueprint changes plus a short README so future updates are painless.
Acceptance criteria
1. A packaged test build connects through SteamCore, shows correct Steam IDs and creates/join matches for each listed mode.
2. Session restoration works after an intentional drop (ALT-F4 or network pull).
3. No log errors or warnings related to the deprecated Steam Subsystem.
You’ll have Git access to the project repo and a small pool of test SteamIDs for validation. I’m happy to answer engine-specific questions quickly so you can stay in flow and finish the migration smoothly.
