Looking for a gamer in $250 Limited Budget

Job ID: 40384554

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I’m looking to commission a compact, story-driven role-playing game that can be built inside a tight, roughly $300 production ceiling. The experience must be strictly single-player—no multiplayer or online features—yet still deliver a satisfying sense of exploration, progression, and completion.

Scope and vision
The ideal game runs 60–120 minutes from first click to credits, offering a small but engaging narrative arc. I’m flexible on the tech stack—Unity, Godot, GameMaker, Unreal, an in-house engine, whatever lets you move fastest while keeping licensing costs minimal. Free or low-cost marketplace assets are fine; polished placeholders are acceptable where original art would blow the budget.

Core requirements
• Clear, self-contained narrative with a beginning, middle, and end
• Either turn-based or responsive real-time combat (your call)
• Basic inventory and character-progression loop
• Save / load functionality
• Menus and UI that feel finished, not prototype-grey

Deliverables
– Playable PC build (Windows; bonus points for macOS/Linux exports)
– Full project source with clear folder structure and commented code
– Asset list noting licences for every third-party element used
– Quick-start guide so I can compile or tweak the project locally

Acceptance criteria
1. The build installs, launches, and plays through without major bugs.
2. Main quest-line can be completed in under two hours.
3. No unlicensed or improperly credited assets.

In your proposal, please outline:
• The engine and tools you’ll use.
• How you plan to divide the limited budget across art, sound, and dev time.
• A milestone timeline—I’d like something playable within about four weeks.

If you have jam projects or finished RPGs in your portfolio, share a link or video; seeing your previous work will help me choose the best fit. I’m eager to collaborate and happy to answer any follow-up questions right away.
