Horror Desktop Game Development

Job ID: 39797144

Budget: $10 – $30 USD

I’m planning a full-scale desktop game with a clear focus on immersive horror. This is not a web or mobile project—I need an installable application that runs smoothly on modern Windows PCs (Mac or Linux support would be a welcome bonus but not essential).

The concept centres on a tense, atmospheric experience rather than pure arcade action or strategic resource management. Think rich environmental storytelling, dynamic sound design, and mechanics that keep the player on edge throughout the play-through. I have a rough storyline in place; what I’m missing is the technical expertise to bring it to life.

Here’s what I’m looking for:
• Engine guidance (Unity or Unreal preferred, but I’m open if you have a compelling alternative).
• End-to-end development: core mechanics, level design, art/animation integration, AI behaviour, UI, and polishing.
• Performance optimisation so the final build maintains a stable frame rate on mid-range hardware.
• Thorough testing and a final executable ready for distribution on Windows.

I’ll provide narrative notes, mood boards, and asset references as soon as we kick off. You’ll handle version control, regular progress checkpoints, and documented builds so I can track milestones easily. If you have previous work in the horror genre—or any desktop games that showcase atmospheric storytelling—please share links or playable demos.

Once we agree on the scope, I’d like to outline clear milestones: prototype, alpha, beta, and release candidate. Excited to hear your ideas on how we can make this horror title unforgettable for players.
