Godot 4 Developer for Game Inventory System

Job ID: 40191754

Budget: $10 – $30 USD

Hi!
I’m developing a 2D game in Godot (Godot 4) and I’m looking for an experienced Godot developer to implement an inventory selection system with hotbar integration.
The inventory UI and item icons already exist. What I need is the selection mechanics + transitions.
- How the System Should Work:
- Inventory:
The player opens the inventory by pressing TAB.
The inventory has a maximum of 16 item slots.
When the inventory opens, the selection starts from item slot 1.
The currently selected item has a white glowing shadow/background behind it.
The player can move the selection using WASD.
When moving between items, there should be a smooth transition/animation to clearly show the selection change.
If there are no other items in the direction pressed, the selection does not move (no transition).
- Selecting Items for Hotbar:
Pressing SPACE on a selected item:
Marks the item as selected
The item glows / shines
The item is added to the hotbar
The hotbar can contain MAX 5 items.
If the hotbar is full, no more items can be added.
- Hotbar Behavior:
When the player selects some items:
The hotbar appears on the top-right corner of the screen
The first selected item is active by default
The player can switch hotbar items using:
Key 1 → Hotbar slot 1
Key 2 → Hotbar slot 2
Key 3, 4, 5 accordingly
If a hotbar slot is empty, switching to it does nothing.
NOTE: I don't care if you are fast, so I might not choose you if you propose to do this in 2 days.
I will give you time, I only need you to make it good.
