MOBILE / BROWSER 2D GAME ARTIST
OVERVIEW
The OODAO develops web3 integrations for existing web3 projects and communities by
producing games and game mechanics for the web3 community.
Today, we want to launch a new async multiplayer 2D game with web3 integration.
We are well-versed in web3 development and product development. We need help for the
game development side.
We are looking for an MVP within 6-8 weeks. We are looking to maximize learning as we
prepare to launch our own indie studio, with 2-3 more game concepts in the pipeline.
We are looking for a freelance game developer and artist who would join a team of web3
developers, marketing specialists and start-up entrepreneurs looking to build a long-term
relationship via community-supported games for the web3 community.
RESPONSIBILITIES
● Art directorial ambitions
● Confident in accepting feedback
● Keen to seek out the best way to value/integrate with artists and collector communities
● Collaborative
● Develop and establish an art vision that enhances and supports the creative direction,
game design, product and marketing strategy of our titles
● Control the overall aesthetics of the project (2D art styles, UI, VFX, Animation etc.).
● Produce easily digestible Art Direction visuals, pitches, guides and documentation to
align team understanding and direction
● Brainstorm with the design team and help them previsualize how ideas can be
materialized and function visually.
● Advocate for best practices and pipelines in all art disciplines including outsourcing
● Keep yourself and the team informed of the latest advancements of technology and
techniques specific to art.
● Work with the team to effectively plan art delivery and highlight strategic risks
● Inspire, motivate, and unleash potential in individuals and team to deliver beyond
expectations
● Build art prototypes in-engine using mock-up assets.
● Create concept art for both characters and environments, balancing realistic and
stylized.
● Create 2D mock-ups for environments and characters.
● Contributes toward studio initiatives, is a team and studio ambassador personifying the
company values.
● Become part of studio leadership shaping the strategy of the art department and beyond
within OODAO
REQUIRED SKILLS
● Creative mind, ability to generate and discuss with and present ideas to the rest of the
team.
● Portfolio demonstrating Art Direction capability (Style/ Production guides, paint-overs,
etc)
● Extensive end to end game development experience from concept, production through
to live game on mobile/browser platforms
● Able to communicate and propagate an artistic vision to the team, stakeholders and
externally as required
● Comfortable documenting and presenting current industry best practices to the team,
critiquing problematic assets and workflows
● Working knowledge of modern game development workflows across all major artistic
disciplines
● Working knowledge of Unity and drive to continue learning about the latest features
within the engine for artists.
● Able to show a solid understanding of art fundamentals; anatomy, composition, lighting/
value, form/ function and perspective
● Strong leadership skills with an inspirational lead by example approach that unleashes
potential in others
● Ability to bring a competitive edge to the studio through Art Direction
