Cordyceps Apocalypse: Game Design
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
Concept:
The story follows a journey through an abandoned hospital, transformed into a massive biological laboratory by the antagonist who is experimenting with a mutated strain of the "Cordyceps" fungus.
Visual and Design Objectives:
Environment Design: A sharp contrast between sterile, clinical hospital corridors and the organic fungal structures that have overgrown and infiltrated the entire facility like invasive vines.
Creature Design (Specimens): Focus on "body-horror" elements. Human and animal figures physically deformed by the fungus, with spores deeply embedded in their tissues and limbs twisted into unnatural, unsettling shapes.
Atmosphere: Creating a sense of claustrophobic depth within a 2D plane. Fungal growths should function not just as visual set dressing, but as dynamic obstacles that block paths or force the player to find new routes.
Core Visual Focus: Establishing a striking aesthetic balance between the bioluminescent, neon-like textures of the fungus and the decaying, gloomy environment of the facility.
