Build a mobile game with unity
Budget: $1,500 – $3,000 USD
Build a mobile game 3d/2d.
What is the story?
Set in post-apocalyptic Nigeria. The country is controlled by evil cultists, mad mutants and leftovers of the Corrupt government. It will take willpower and vision to unite the nation once again.
Who is our player?
The player is one of many possible Tribal leaders chosen by the gods of his people to either unite the nation or conquer it.
Why would a player want to play our game?
The map would be based off of the actual map of Nigeria with major locations and landmarks scaled down. It will be uniquely Nigerian, featuring actual tribes, as well their corresponding deities, masks, weapons and customs. It will be easy to jump in and out of the game.
What kind of experience do we want the player to have?
At its core it’s a strategy game in the vain of card games like UNO or WHOT. It allows the player feel smart by giving them a straight path to victory to start with, but some room to grow and master. It also allows the player to collect extra characters [i.e. Tribesmen] and that appeals to those who like to grind, level up and grow stronger.
What is essential to that experience?
Fun and easy to get into gameplay with fair and scalable difficulty levels. Clear, distinctive and balanced character roles and abilities.
Is the game fun?
Fun and stimulating?
What parts of it are fun?
The battles will test your planning skills. Collecting specialized tribesmen and abilities. Being able to battle in recreations of actual place in Nigeria. Seeing representations of Nigeria culture and mythology in media.
What will surprise players when they play our game?
Knowledge of tribes and their respective cultures people may not know about.
What kind of surprises will we have through the game?
Special abilities that will fundamentally change how the game is played.
What is valuable in the game?
Your tribesmen and your home village.
How does the value correspond to inner motivations of the player?
The more unique your tribesmen are the more moves you have at your disposal during combat. Your village grants you different buffs and power-ups depending on how you choose to upgrade it or where it located.
What kind of problem solving does the game involve?
Choosing the right tribe member for the right situations. Making proper use of the tribe member ability to win combat situations and making sure they are available for future skirmishes.
2. The Concept
- The Game Mechanics: The game will use a simple turn-based tactical combat similar to card games like Gwent and Hearthstone. The combat in these games are a bit more complicated that what we are going for but will serve as a good template to start. The main areas of the game will be split in two:
o Map Screen – This screen will have the shops, States, cities, and battle areas
o Battle Screen – This screen is where all the combat will take place. This is where the player chooses their battle formation and tactics.
- The story: Based in a post-apocalyptic Nigeria. The player picks a tribe and acts as tribal leader in a bid to conquer and unify the country region by region and state by state.
- The aesthetics: The look will be 3D isometric cam with cartoon style graphics that allow the player to make out character details while having a lower polygon count.
Controls Controls will be Touch screens for mobile devices. There will be pop-up menus to select player actions. The Player taps the screen to select characters, menu options or point on the map or level to move. Mechanics The game will have a tactical turn-based combat system. This means play will be similar to chess. Each PC (Player Character) will have a movement Phase and Attack Phase. The Movement phase pulls up a grid, similar to graph paper, showing where the selected character can move. The Attack phase pulls up a menu with actions that can be taken by the selected character.
