Split Model, Add Push-Fit Joint for steel
Budget: $250 – $750 CAD
I have a single-body Fusion 360 model that needs to be separated into two mating parts, then equipped with a male/female push-fit joint designed for secure fitting. The joint must lock firmly without tools while still letting me pull the parts apart for maintenance. Because this file goes straight to manufacturing as the final product, tolerances, wall thickness, and draft angles all have to be production-ready.
Scope of work
• Split the existing body at the most logical plane, preserving overall geometry and strength.
• Design a keyed male/female push-fit interface that resists wobble and guarantees repeatable alignment.
• Optimise clearances for typical FDM and SLA printers (I will confirm nozzle size and layer height once we start).
• Return the updated Fusion 360 (.f3d) file plus a neutral STEP so I can share it with the shop.
Acceptance criteria
• Parts press together by hand with a firm “click,” hold under moderate load, and separate without damage.
• No visible gaps greater than 0.2 mm along the seam when assembled.
• All edits remain fully parametric so I can tweak dimensions later.
If you’re comfortable working directly in Fusion 360 and can turn this around quickly, I’m ready to share the model right away.
