Rig simulation

Job ID: 35570701

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

What is the project?

Simulated racing or racing simulation (commonly known as ‘sim racing’), refers to racing game software that attempts to accurately simulate auto racing. Those who engage in sim racing as a hobby will often purchase or build a rig to hold their steering wheel, pedals and seat to fully immerse them in the driving experience. A quick search of the internet will reveal many existing sim racing rig options.

The design challenge is to design a new racing simulation rig for hobby use within the home.

The rig should be:

1. Assembled using only a single hand tool that can be easily used by everyone
2. Fully adjustable to accommodate a range of body sizes and shapes
3. Adaptable, so the racing seat can be easily removed, allowing the rig to be used by a wheelchair user
4. Strong enough and robust enough to cope with long periods of use (races can last for many hours)
5. Foldable, folding down into the smallest footprint possible without the aid of any tools
6. Able to be shipped in the smallest possible package
7. Cost competitive compared to existing products on the marketplace

You are provided with a Fusion 360 file (I will send it directly to the person, because file is too bigger) containing a common set of sim racing pedals, a common sim racing steering wheel, a racing seat and a human mannequin to be used and manipulated for reference. You will need to consider how the pedals, wheel and seat attach to the rig you design.

Below I have pinned two examples of finished works. The work should be done in fusion 360.
