Point Cloud to Precise STEP

Job ID: 39967602

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I have a high-resolution point cloud of small plastic component that now needs to become a fully parametric solid model ready for manufacturing. The end product must open flawlessly in Fusion 360 and also be supplied as a neutral STEP file. Because the component will go straight to CNC, tight tolerances matter; I’ll be checking critical faces against the scan, so please aim for a surface-to-scan deviation that stays within my typical machining allowance (±0.05 mm or better).

Internal geometries are just as important as the outer shell—holes, cavities, and any hidden features in the scan must be captured and modelled as native parametric features, not simply patched meshes. If you rely on plug-ins such as Mesh to BRep, that’s fine, but the final body should be fully editable in Fusion 360 with a clean timeline.

Deliverables
• Native Fusion 360 (.f3d) file with a clear feature tree
• STEP (.stp / .step) export of the same model

Before we wrap up, I’ll perform a quick overlay comparison in Fusion 360’s inspection workspace; once the deviation map is green across the board, we’re done. If you need the raw point cloud in a different format (currently PLY), let me know and I’ll convert it.

If this project is successful I have many similar such projects you could also work on.
