The Harriet Tubman Freedom Center is seeking a passionate and experienced Director of Development to help grow our impact through fundraising, grants, sponsorships, and donor engagement.

As a part-time or fractional member of our leadership team, you will work closely with the founders, Alex and Lisa Green, to strengthen the Center’s financial foundation, expand partnerships, and advance its mission to educate, inspire, and empower through the legacy of Harriet Tubman.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising and donor engagement strategy

Write and manage grants and sponsorship proposals

Build partnerships with corporations, foundations, and community organizations

Support upcoming projects, including Underground Underwater and The Taste of Freedom Art Exhibit

Assist with planning a capital campaign for building and sustainability initiatives

Qualifications

3–5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising or development

Proven success in grant writing and donor relations

Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills

Knowledge of heritage, arts, education, or environmental sectors a plus
