Check A Vet
Budget: $50 – $0 USD
website: checkavet.org Check A Vet@vets 411
Our Mission Statement: Check A Vet will prevent Veteran suicide by raising public awareness and calling upon American citizens to meaningfully and routinely engage Veterans.
How We Help
We help Veterans and their loved ones by utilizing a multi-front campaign that is broken down into three main categories.
1. Help Veterans in distress.
2. Create a resource center for Veterans where they can find local and national organizations that assist with Veteran’s health and day-to-day needs and by sharing a network of other nonprofit organizations that provide trips and services to our Veterans.
3. Offer strategies and ideas to loved ones that will help them meaningfully connect with the Veteran in their lives. In these strategies will share data and resources to help educate loved ones on Veterans issues, risk/protective factors for suicide and finally we will share the signs of a Veteran in distress so that loved ones can assist the Veteran to seek needed help.
In addition to these three categories, Check A Vet will produce Public Service Announcements that will be: Shocking Calls-To-Action; Awe-inspiring success stories; Interviews with friends and family who have lost their Veteran; Interviews with family and friends who helped make their Veteran’s life more fulfilling.
