PDF markup tool for desktop (view and edit) and mobile devices (view and limited edit), and with real time collaboration
Budget: £1,000 – £5,000 GBP
I am looking for a skilled developer to create a PDF markup tool that is compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems. The tool should have the following key features:
- Editing of underlying PDF document is NOT required.
- Annotation Tools: Simple geometric shapes type of annotation objects (lines, rectangles, circles...), that can be formatted (colours, hatches, borders...), have comments added to them (on or next to the object itself), etc.
- Real-time Collaboration: Users should be able to collaborate on the same document simultaneously, with changes being visible in real-time or being refreshed at regular intervals (say 5 minutes). Collaboration is access level based, so that users cannot interact with annotations placed by other users, unless permitted to do so.
- Mainly cloud based but must be able to function in environments with poor or no network connectivity (e.g., share project files via USB)
- Subscription based licencing system
- Provision for future expansion by adding modules (for example markup on formats other than PDF, custom set of icons/annotation objects, etc.)
For desktop devices, the tool should allow for full editing capabilities, including the ability to edit the underlying PDF document. For mobile devices, full viewer is required, but the editing capabilities could be limited to a (very) small subset of editing tools.
There is no set framework - developer is expected to propose what they are most comfortable with, and most adequate for the task.
Project is a personal idea and financed privately with a limited but flexible budget. Due to this, in exchange for part or all of development effort, there is an offer of becoming a partner, with part ownership of software (as covered by applicable United Kingdom laws), and receiving part of sales/rental proceeds throughout its lifetime.
There is also a fairly simple (in programming terms) functionality related to annotation that has not disclosed here, but will be briefly discussed in private, and in more detail under non-disclosure agreement.
