Heatmap Module Development for App
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I’m building CrowdSense, a radar-style crowd density app. The UI (Home/Map, Search, Filters, Trending/Quiet, Bulletin) is done. I need a buttery, Apple-Weather–style heat map that will eventually adjust to the live data being received. Implemented as a standalone web module I can embed via <iframe> into my app. No redesign—just the heat engine.
Confidentiality & Terms:
Before details: comfortable with a mutual NDA, fixed-price milestones in escrow, and IP assignment to me on payment.
What you’ll deliver:
- A React + MapLibre GL (preferred) or Mapbox GL module that:
-Renders a continuous, GPU heat layer (not bubbles) with a green→yellow→orange→red ramp.
- Feels stable and precise at street-corner level (no jitter/flicker).
- Uses deterministic mock data (multi-city, categories, density 0–100).
- Supports filters (category multi-select + dual crowd % range).
- Exposes a tiny API (querystring or postMessage) for: set filters, flyTo(lat, lng), emit selection.
- Deployed to a public URL (Netlify/Vercel) and documented for embed.
- UX/Perf expectations
- Smooth pan/zoom; freeze during drag, debounced refresh after move.
- Zoom-adaptive radius/intensity; subtle smoothing on data changes.
- Fly-to + pulse when a place is selected.
- Mobile-first, full-bleed canvas; no page scroll; respects safe areas; no console errors.
Milestones:
- Pilot (8–10h, fixed): One city demo proving feel & performance: heat layer, freeze/refresh, zoom-adaptive, deterministic data, fly-to. Output: live URL + repo.
- Full Module (40–60h, fixed) : Global mock data, filters API, smoothing/scale-lock, helper for Trending/Quiet in viewport, mobile QA, README + final deploy.
What to include in your bid:
- “I read the CrowdSense brief”
- 1 to 3 links to prior MapLibre/Mapbox GL work you personally developed/completed (heatmaps or heavy vector maps).
- Your approach in a sentence or two (zoom-adaptive + smoothing).
- Availability + time estimate for Pilot and Full Module.
- Confirmation on NDA, fixed-price escrow, IP assignment.
Not needed / won’t provide:
- No access to my full app; we integrate by URL.
- No real data or paid keys during this phase (but a price estimate for this is appreciated)
If you can deliver the “Apple-Weather feel” on modern phones, we’ll move fast. Once again...links to similar jobs you have finished would be greatly appreciated.
