Front-End React Developer to help build great user experiences for an accounting industry startup
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
We are a based startup within the accounting industry, looking for an experienced Front-End React developer. Our vision is to make high quality accounting services available and affordable for micro businesses. To do this we are standardizing and automating as lean processes as possible, and at the core of this is an ambitious plan to upgrade our current tools and applications. We estimate to cut manual work by more than 50% with this project, so the value you can contribute is immense to both us and to small business owners in Sweden.
Over the last year or so we have built and validated an MVP that was built using AngularJS. We have some great customer feedback and are embarking on the next phase of our product, which we are planning to build in ReactJS instead.
Given we are early in our journey, we’re looking for somebody that isn’t afraid to ramp up a new React frontend from scratch, knows the best practices regarding state management, build tools and deployment but above all is a proactive and communicative person.
The current team consists of a CTO, 2 backend developers, a UX designer and a business owner that knows the industry and customers very well. We’re a small team that works fully remotely and prioritizes output over hours, meaning you have full flexibility on when you want to work.
Our roadmap includes a variety of large ticket items for which the frontend experience plays a big role. We’re looking to build a variety of process driven UIs, as well as integrate some OCR and AI capabilities for increased document processing efficiency as well.
The Role
We’re looking for a seasoned Front-end React developer that knows to ask the right questions, is able to distinguish good & bad architectural patterns from a mile away and knows how to balance between business deliverables and technical maturity.
In this role you will closely collaborate with all other team members to bring the product vision to the user’s screens. You’ll be responsible for creating a clean front-end that is nicely abstracted and can be easily expanded in the future, delivering an intuitive and frictionless user experience.
About You
You have 3+ years of experience working in ReactJS or similar frameworks
You have the drive and rigor to work autonomously and independently day to day, but…
You are proactive and communicative with the rest of the team
You have built ReactJS frontends from scratch before
You are experienced in surrounding tooling like webpack and create-react-app
You have no problem translating business requirements into clean and maintainable implementations that focus on business growth
You enjoy having the freedom to design solutions in the best way you see fit, but brainstorm collaboratively about the high level architecture with the back-end developers and CTO
Nice to have
Having used TailwindCSS or TailwindUI components before to speed up delivery
Having familiarity with React Native or other mobile frameworks for app development
Having used Cypress before for integration testing
You prefer consistent automation of manual work, able to setup CI/CD pipelines using tools like Vercel or Netlify
This role doesn’t have specific time requirements and will mostly be based on output. Given the amount of features in mind, a commitment of 2-3 days per week is likely the least for it to be feasible for both of us, at least initially. Working hours are entirely up to you - as long as you have availability to sync with the rest of the small team in the Central European time zone.
