Multi-Language Story Translation
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I have a collection of English-language stories that I want to share with new readers around the world. I’ll provide the original manuscripts along with a brief synopsis and any character notes that help capture tone and voice.
Your task is to produce polished, culturally sensitive translations of each story into the target languages—Spanish, French and German are my immediate priorities, though I’m open to adding another language if you have proven expertise. Most stories sit in the short-to-medium range; expect anywhere from a few pages to roughly 5,000 words each.
Quality matters more than speed. I need translations that read as if they were originally written in the target language: natural dialogue, appropriate idioms, and consistent character voice. Where there are puns, cultural references or rhymes, please suggest equivalent phrasing and note any unavoidable shifts in meaning.
Deliverables
• Final translation for each story in editable Word format
• A side-by-side comparison (paragraph level) or tracked-changes version so I can see how specific nuances were handled
• Brief translator’s notes highlighting tricky sections, cultural tweaks or terminology decisions
I’ll start by sending one story as a paid test piece. If we’re both happy with the result, we’ll roll straight into the remaining stories under the same agreement. Regular communication, respect for deadlines and confidentiality of all source material are essential.
