Pharmacy API Software

We would like to automate data entry in community pharmacies. There are currently several pharmacy softwares on the market with the most popular one being Kroll.
Current workflow is when a patient drops off a prescription, it is scanned into the patients chart. From there a pharmacy technician enters the prescription into the software by entering the drug name, dose, instructions, quantity and refills. Once the prescription is billed through any insurance, it is then sent to the pharmacist for "data and clinical verification". The pharmacist then receives a view of the image of the prescription along with what the technician had entered to ensure data entry accuracy. The pharmacist then also validates that the medication is clinially appropriate.
Currently, there is no integration of prescription orders to be automatically entered into the pharmacy software system. Because a pharmacy assistant or technician enters the prescription data into the chart manually, there could be errors (eg. wrong dose, quantity, doctor, drug, etc). Although the pharmacist is to verify the prescription, they may also miss any mistakes causing a significant patient error.
Therefore, we would like to create an API that can "read" and "effectively enter" the prescription into the pharmacy software so no errors (if possible) that will help:
1) Reduce prescription errors and improve patient outcomes
2) Improve workflows and time to patient receiving medication
3) Reduce staffing cost secondary to automation.
