Senior Flutter Developer / Technical Lead Needed for Existing Fitness App Recovery & Audit
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
The existing mobile codebase—written entirely in Flutter and connected to a custom, API-driven backend—needs a complete recovery, refactor, and relaunch. The previous team left the project half-finished, so the work now spans audit, repair, and technical leadership through to store deployment.
Current state
• Flutter front end compiles only on older SDK versions and fails during release builds.
• Custom backend endpoints are live, well-documented, and returning data, yet several calls have drifted from the latest app models.
• No CI/CD in place; TestFlight and Google Play uploads were last performed manually months ago.
• Admin dashboard was started but never wired to production data.
Scope of work
1. Audit the Flutter code, migrate to the latest stable channel, and resolve breaking changes.
2. Map every screen to its corresponding backend API, patch mismatches, and update models.
3. Rebuild or replace abandoned packages, ensuring secure authentication and state management.
4. Stand-up automated build pipelines that push to TestFlight and Google Play internal testing tracks.
5. Finish the admin dashboard so key content and user metrics are exposed to the product team.
6. Produce a step-by-step recovery plan with milestones, risk assessment, and future maintenance guidelines.
Acceptance criteria
• Clean, warning-free builds on current Flutter and Xcode/Android Studio versions.
• Successful beta distribution through TestFlight and Google Play with release notes.
• All critical user flows verified against the live APIs.
• Admin dashboard running on production data behind secure login.
• Handoff package containing setup scripts, environment variables template, and build documentation.
Expect collaboration over Slack, GitHub, and weekly video stand-ups while I validate each milestone. Code quality, clear commit history, and proactive communication are essential; speed alone will not outweigh maintainability.
