EV Ride-Hailing App for Nigeria
Budget: $1,500 – $3,000 USD
Project Overview:
I am seeking a senior-level software architect or an experienced development team to build a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) for an Electric Vehicle (EV) specific ride-hailing platform. Unlike standard Uber clones, this system requires a specialized Range-Aware Dispatch Algorithm to manage EV battery constraints and charging infrastructure. The initial launch is focused on the Nigerian market (Abuja/Lagos).
Scope of Work:
You will be responsible for the end-to-end development of three core components:
Rider App (iOS/Android): Clean UI, destination search, carbon-saving tracker, and multiple payment integrations (Card + Bank Transfer).
Driver App (iOS/Android): Real-time battery State-of-Charge (SoC) monitoring, range-aware trip acceptance, and charging station locator.
Admin Dashboard (Web): Fleet management, real-time battery health monitoring, surge pricing control, and Nigerian tax/compliance reporting.
Core Technical Requirements:
Tech Stack: Preference for Flutter or React Native (Frontend) and Node.js/TypeScript or Go (Backend).
Database: PostgreSQL with PostGIS for advanced geospatial queries.
Real-time Engine: Socket.io or MQTT for sub-second GPS and battery updates.
The "EV Logic": Implementation of a dispatch algorithm that filters drivers based on Trip_Distance + Buffer < Current_Battery_Range.
Payments: Integration with Paystack and Flutterwave (must support NGN "Pay with Transfer" flow).
Mapping: Mapbox or Google Maps API (optimized for high-traffic environments like Lagos).
Key Differentiators (Must be implemented):
Battery-Aware Matching: The system must proactively block drivers from receiving long-distance trips if their SoC is below 20%.
Offline Resilience: The apps must handle the "shaky" 4G/5G connectivity common in parts of Nigeria using local caching and optimistic UI updates.
Compliance Layer: Built-in logic for the Lagos State 10% service tax and NDPR-compliant data handling.
Deliverables & Milestones (90-Day Timeline):
Milestone 1 (Wk 2): Complete System Architecture, Database Schema, and UI/UX Figma high-fidelity prototypes.
Milestone 2 (Wk 6): Functional Rider/Driver Apps with basic GPS tracking and matching logic.
Milestone 3 (Wk 10): Full EV Logic (Battery tracking), Payment Gateway integration, and Admin Panel.
Milestone 4 (Wk 12): UAT, Bug fixing, and deployment to App Store/Play Store/AWS.
Qualification Requirements:
Proven experience building at least one production-grade ride-hailing or logistics app.
Strong understanding of geospatial indexing (H3 or S2) and high-concurrency backend scaling.
Experience with African payment gateways is a major plus.
Must be able to provide a technical walk-through of a previous similar project.
How to Apply:
Briefly describe your experience with ride-hailing or EV-related software.
Specify which tech stack you recommend for this and why.
Screening Question: How would you calculate the "Estimated Battery Drain" for a trip in Lagos traffic without access to the vehicle's OBD-II port?
