HTML5 RTS Game Development
Budget: ₹50,000 – ₹500,000 INR
I'm seeking an experienced HTML5 multiplayer game developer to bring my real-time strategy game concept to life for web browsers.
Job Title: Multiplayer Browser Game Developer (Slither.io Style)
Type: Contract/Freelance
Location: Remote
Start: Immediate
Duration: 6–8 weeks (with potential extension)
Compensation: Competitive — based on experience and delivery speed
Project Overview
We are building a real-time multiplayer browser game inspired by Slither.io, designed to run smoothly on both desktop and mobile browsers. The game will support up to 50 players per arena, with AI-controlled snakes filling any empty slots. Emphasis is on ultra-low-latency, 60 FPS performance, procedural visuals (no sprites), and a tight gameplay loop.
What You’ll Work On
Design and implement client-side gameplay logic in HTML5/JavaScript (or TypeScript)
Develop a high-performance WebSocket server to support 50 concurrent players per match
Integrate AI snakes that behave naturally and scale with human player count
Implement programmatic visuals for snakes and food — glossy gradient effects, no image assets
Add a safe zone shrink mechanic, leaderboard, and countdown-based lobby system
Ensure no-lag gameplay via client prediction, interpolation, and delta-synced snapshots
Build a lightweight, mobile-friendly UI (controls, minimap, player count, elimination feed)
Must-Have Skills
Strong experience with real-time multiplayer game development
Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5 Canvas or PixiJS
Deep understanding of WebSocket networking (binary formats, tick-based loops, snapshot diffing)
Proven track record of building smooth, low-latency games in the browser
Familiarity with spatial culling, interpolation, and lag compensation
Experience creating procedural graphics (e.g., radial gradients for game elements)
Nice-to-Have Skills
AI behavior scripting (state machines, Perlin noise movement, reactive bots)
Experience with Node.js, Redis, or Go for game server logic
Cloud deployment experience (e.g., Cloudflare Spectrum, Kubernetes, multi-region scaling)
Familiarity with performance profiling and memory optimization on mobile browsers
What Success Looks Like
Smooth, 60 FPS gameplay with ≤30ms latency for same-region players
Instant game entry via a countdown lobby and balanced AI fill-in
Fully functional and visually accurate snake movement, food trails, and collision logic
Minimal bundle size and fast load even on mid-range mobile devices
