MikroTik WhatsApp-Only Firewall Rule
Budget: ₹1,500 – ₹12,500 INR
I have a MikroTik router that I use at home and I’d like to restrict all internet traffic except WhatsApp. The job is straightforward: supply a ready-to-paste set of firewall rules (or an .rsc snippet) that reliably blocks every other service while allowing WhatsApp functionality preferably only messaging, but can allow voice, video, attachments and web-based verification, if can not be blocked.
Because this is for personal use I’m not concerned with enterprise-grade segmentation or reporting; I simply want a clean, lean rule-set that I can drop into WinBox or the terminal right away. I already manage my own firewall, so step-by-step training isn’t necessary—just include a brief line or two explaining where in the rule order the snippet should sit so I don’t break existing NAT or DHCP settings.
This rule will be applied for hotspot trial users. This means, every trail user will be allowed for WhatsApp Access only for 3 minutes.
Acceptance criteria:
• Script imports without errors on current RouterOS stable branch.
• After a reboot, only WhatsApp traffic passes; all other outbound connections are blocked.
• No inadvertent loss of basic router services (e.g., DNS for WhatsApp look-ups).
Please deliver the configuration text and any IP ranges or layer-7 patterns you rely on.
