Tourist Submarine Hull Design

I’m developing a small submarine dedicated to tourism and leisure trips that will never exceed 100 m depth, and I need a mechanical engineer who can turn that vision into a safe, passenger-friendly hull. The body must prioritise comfortable seating and panoramic views, so the structural layout, viewport sizing, and overall ergonomics come first; efficiency or military-grade features are secondary at best.

You’ll take the lead on the complete pressure-hull concept: material selection, thickness calculations, buoyancy and stability assessments, and preliminary FEA to prove the design can meet recognised safety codes such as DNV-GL Submersible Rules or ASME-PVHO. Please integrate a seating plan for 6–10 passengers with wide viewing domes/windows, and leave space for a compact life-support module and thruster mounts.

Deliverables
• 3D CAD model (SolidWorks or similar) of the full hull with viewport cut-outs, seating, and internal frames
• Brief structural report: load cases, stress margins, safety factors, buoyancy/stability tables
• Material and manufacturing notes suitable for a prototype quote
• Native CAD file + STEP/IGES export and PDF drawings

I’ll review against: compliance with the 100 m depth envelope, unobstructed sightlines for every seat, and documented safety factors ≥ 2.5 for pressure loads. If you’ve worked on submersibles, hyperbaric chambers, or similar pressure vessels, please mention it along with portfolio examples.
