Sewer Network Design Engineer - Sewer GEMS

WASTE WATER (SEWER NETWORK DESIGN ENGINEER) -with SEWER GEMS SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE
A civil engineer specializing in the design and analysis of sewer systems using the "Sewer GEMS" software, primarily responsible for creating detailed models of sewer networks, performing hydraulic calculations, and optimizing designs to ensure efficient wastewater flow and management, often working on projects like new sewer lines, upgrades to existing systems, and stormwater drainage systems, while utilizing advanced modeling capabilities within the Sewer GEMS platform.
Key Responsibilities:
• Model Development:
• Build comprehensive sewer network models in Sewer GEMS, incorporating data like pipe sizes, grades, elevations, and existing infrastructure.
• Input land use data, population projections, and flow estimations to accurately simulate wastewater volumes.
• Hydraulic Analysis:
• Conduct hydraulic simulations to assess existing sewer system capacity, identify potential bottlenecks, and predict flow patterns under various conditions.
• Analyze peak flows, water levels, and surcharge conditions to identify areas requiring improvement.
• Design Optimization:
• Design new sewer lines or modifications to existing systems based on modeling results, optimizing pipe sizes, grades, and network layout for optimal flow.
• Evaluate different design alternatives and cost implications to find the most efficient solution.
• Report Generation:
• Prepare detailed reports summarizing modeling results, design recommendations, and project findings, including graphical visualizations.
• Document design calculations, assumptions made, and data sources used.
• Collaboration:
• Work closely with other engineers, surveyors, and project managers to gather data, integrate designs, and ensure project goals are met.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to address concerns and obtain necessary approvals.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on water/wastewater engineering.
• Preferably Masters in Environmental Engineering
• Expertise in Sewer GEMS software, including proficiency in model building, analysis, and visualization tools.
• Strong understanding of hydraulic principles and wastewater collection systems.
• Experience with AutoCAD or other design software for drawing plans and profiles.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
